8/25 – INDEPENDENCE – AWAY – WIN – 47-28

On Friday night your Greenway Demons traveled to Independence High School to face off against the Patriots. Your demons killed the Patriots by a score of 47 to 28. Main standouts on offense were Tyler Duncan, Parker Reeves, Tj Murphy, and Caden Hughes. Tyler Duncan had 4 Touchdowns and 3 of the touchdowns were caught by Caden Hughes. Parker Reeves ran in 3 touchdowns. Your demon defense stopped the Patriots all night, standouts on defense were Kevin Altmaier, Seth Henry, Zeke Mendoza, and Blake Buche.

9/1- COCONINO – HOMEWIN – 46-14

On Friday your greenway demons faced off against the Coconino Panthers! Your demons crushed the Panthers by a score of 46 to 14. Your demons scored 39 points by halftime led by Tyler Duncan, Parker Reeves, Aaron Lopez and Tj Murphy. The defense held the Panthers to 14 points the whole game led by Nate Haremza with a pick 6, Haydon Levenda, Seth Henry, Brody Jones and Kevin Altmier. This Friday our school has the opportunity to be broadcasted live on 12 news for our football game against Thunderbird, but you have to vote. In order to vote go to 12 news Friday Night Fever. So make sure to vote and come support your demons on Friday.

9/8- THUNDERBIRD – HOMEWIN – 47-41

On Friday your Greenway Demons had a huge game against the Thunderbird Chiefs. Your Demons beat the chiefs by a score of 47 to 41 in a hard fought battle. On the offensive side of the ball key players were Tyler Duncan with 7 touchdowns, Parker reeves with 3 touchdowns, Julian Arias with 2 touchdowns, Caden Hughes with 1 touchdown and Tj Murphy with 1 touchdown and a big game from Aaron Lopez. On the defensive side of the ball, your key players were Atoine Williams, Seth Henry, Blake Buche and Will Hood who also had a massive hit on an unsuspecting Chief. With this victory, your Demons are now 3-0 on the season. Make sure to come support the Demons an Washington this Friday.

9/15- WASHINGTON – AWAY – WIN – 55-7

On friday your Demons traveled to Washington to face off against the Washington Rams. Your demons remained undefeated and are now 4-0. Your demon defense held the rams to only 7 points and your demons won by a score of 55 to 7. On the offensive side of the ball key players were Tyler Duncan with 6 touchdowns, Caden Hughs with 2 touchdowns, Brody Jones with 2, Julian Arias with 1 and Tj murphy with1. On the defensive side key players were Brody Jones, Will Hood, Blake Buche and Haydon Levenda. Come out this friday as your demons face off against the matadors on our own turf.

9/22- SHADOW MTN. – (HOMECOMING)HOMEWIN – 19-13

This friday your demons played the matadors of shadow mountain in the demon dome for our homecoming game. Going into the fourth quarter your demons led the matadors 13-12 with big stops from the demon defense. With about 3 minutes left your demons scored again which put the score to 19-13 and the unstoppable defense held the matadors which sealed the deal. On offense key players were Tyler Duncan, Kolbe Pesnell, Aaron Lopez, Tj Murphy, Caden Hughes and Julian Arias. On defense Key players were Blake Buche, Brody Jones, Antoine Williams, Haydon Levenda, Kevin Altmaier and Treven Lanam. Your demons are 5-0 and have an away game this friday at Casa Grande.

9/29- CASA GRANDE – AWAY – LOSS

On friday your demons traveled to Casa Grande to face off against the Cougars. Your demons came up short and lost by a touchdown. It was a hard fought battle which came down to the very end. Key players on offense were Tyler Duncan, Kolbe Pesnell, Aaron Lopez, Julian Arias and Caden Hughes. On the defensive side of the ball key players were Blake Buche, Kevin Altmaier, Will Hood, Brody Jones and Ethan Lizarraga. This week your demons travel to Peoria for a big game both teams coming off of a hard loss. You won’t want to miss it.

10/6- PEORIA – AWAY – WIN – 29-26

10/13- MOON VALLEY – HOME – LOSS

10/20- SUNRISE MOUNTAIN – HOME – LOSS

On friday your demons faced off against Sunrise Mountain. Your demons came up short and lost to the Mustangs. Key players on offense were Tyler Duncan, Caden Hughes, and Julian Arias. On defense key players were Seth Henry, Ethan Lizarraga, Brody Jones, and Blake Buche. Be there this friday at Cactus high school as your demons take on the Cobras for guarantee playoffs. See you there

10/27- CACTUS – AWAY – LOSS

This friday your demons faced off against the cactus cobras. Your demons came up short and lost despite outstanding performances by Tyler Duncan, Caden Hughes, Nick Deaver and Julian Arias and on defense Brody Jones, Seth Henry, Kevin Altmaier and Blake Buche. Your demons did not make playoffs but had an amazing season doubling there wins from last year and finished 6-4.


JUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL SEASON RECORD  (2-7)

8/31 – COCONINO @ 3:30 PM – AWAY – LOSS – 61-12

The JV team traveled up North to open the season against Coconino.  It was a great battle, but our team fell short.  Eric Zing, James Lowery, Leo Rios, Luke Purr and Jacob Burden all had exceptional games for the Demons.  The JV football team will play at Thunderbird next Thursday. Get ready to take down those Chiefs.

9/7 -THUNDERBIRD – AWAY – WIN – 19-13

Last night, your Greenway Demon JV football team took down Thunderbird at home.  The final score was Thunderbird 13 and YOUR Greenway Demons 19. Tyler Tenold scored the winning touchdown to bring home the victory for men dressed in green and gold.  Other key players in the game were Jacob Burden, Mohammad Ibrahim, James Lowrey, Leo Rios and Luke Purr.  The game was moved from Thunderbird to Greenway because Thunderbird’s stands had a mysterious electrical charge; however, the Thunderbird found out the hard way that there is a much bigger electrical charge in our football stadium.  You don’t come to our turf with feeling the shock!!!

9/14 –  WASHINGTON – HOME – LOSS – 18-6

Last night your greenway JV team faced off against the washington rams on our home field. Your demons lost a hard fought battle by a score of 18-6 which was close til the very end. On the offensive side of the ball key players were Luke Parr, Devon Aaronson, Cody Cooper and James Lowery. On the defensive side of the ball key players were Mohammad Ibrahim, Tyler Tenold, Sean Kelley, and Marcus Vert. Your demons face off against the Matadors next thursday at Shadow Mountain. Last night your JV football team traveled to Sunrise Mountain. The demons fought hard but ended up losing. Key players on offense for the Demons were James Lowery, Kyle Whitecotton, Colton Johnson. 10/26 – CACTUS – HOME – LOSS

Last night your JV football team ended their season playing Cactus in our stadium. The demons fought hard but ended up losing to the Cobras. Greenway scored two touchdowns, and key players on offense were James Lowery, Kyle Whitecotton, Colton Johnson. Key players on the defense were Mohammad Ibrim, Dylan Hatch and Cody Cooper. Congratulations to the JV football team for an exciting season.


FRESHMEN FOOTBALL SEASON RECORD (4-5)

8/30 – COCONINO – HOME – LOSS – 20-8

The Freshmen football team lost a tough battle against Coconino 20 to 8. The crowd was great, the cheerleaders were awesome and the football was fun to watch. After falling behind early, the Demons made a charge late but fell short. Christian Johnson had the big play of the night running around the right side for a 60-yard touchdown. Other outstanding performances were made by Brody Bobzian and Caleb Wahner on the offensive side. On the defensive side, Kenyon Bowles and Daymond Neal made some great plays. While the outcome was not what they had hoped for, the future of Greenway football looks bright with this Freshmen group. Thank you to all who came out and supported last night.

9/6- THUNDERBIRD – HOME – LOSS

GREENWAY’S FRESHMEN FOOTBALL TEAM BATTLED THUNDERBIRD ON WEDNESDAY IN A CLOSE HARD FOUGHT GAME.  DESPITE BEING DOWN BY A FEW TOUCHDOWNS EARLY ON GREENWAY CAME BACK TO MAKE THE GAME CLOSE. CALEB WARNER #7 RECOVERED FUMBLE AND SCORED WHILE ETHAN SLICK RETURNED A KICKOFF AND TOOK IT TO THE HOUSE. SLICK ALSO CAUGHT A 60 YARD TOUCHDOWN PASS THROWN BY QUATERBACK BRODY BOBZEEN.  CHRISTIAN JOHNSON MUSCLED HIS WAY INTO THE ENDZONE FOR A TWO POINT CONVERSION.  ON THE DEFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL DAMON NEAL WAS A MADMAN TACKLING EVERY CHIEF IN SIGHT. LET’S HERE IT FOR THE FRESHMEN FOOTBALL TEAM.

9/13 – WASHINGTON – AWAY – WIN – 42-20

9/20 – SHADOW MOUNTAIN – HOME WIN -23-22

The Freshman football team won a close game last night with a 33 yard field goal kicked by Brandon Woodland! The final score was 23-22 and the Demon defense held the Shadow Mountain Matadors scoreless in the second half! Outstanding performances were played by Brody Bobzien, Christian Johnson, Caleb Wahner and our entire defensive and offensive line! Special teams made a huge difference in this game as our punter, Matthew Koistinen pinned the ball inside the ten yard line and we recovered an onside kick to go set up the score that put us ahead in the first half. Turn overs were a big problem for both teams as our secondary picked off 5 passes on the night but we also fumbled several times. This brings our record to 2-2 now as we look forward to hosting Casa Grande next week!

9/27 – CASA GRANDE – AWAY – LOSS – 24-66

Freshman Football played Casa Grande yesterday and lost 24-66. Outstanding players of the game were Ethan Slick, Daymomd Neal, Christian Johnson, Caleb Wahner, Kenyon Bowles and Brandon Woodland.

10/4 – PEORIA – AWAY – LOSS

The freshman football team lost a heartbreaker to Peoria last night 3-12. Brandon Woodland scored the only points for the Demons with a 30 yard field goal. The defense played a great second half holding the panthers scoreless but it was a too little, too late! Next week the Demons host the Moon Valley.

10/11 – MOON VALLEY – HOME WIN – 21-20

The Greenway freshman football team defeated the Moon Valley Rockets, our biggest rival, in a down to the last play shootout Wednesday night! The final score was Greenway 21, Moon Valley 20! You should have been there! The Demons did not play their best but they continued to show great perseverance and desire and came a way with a nail biter win! Outstanding players for the freshman Demons were Brody Bobzien, Brandon Woodland, Daymond Neal, Christian Johnson, Daniel Craig, Jodi Madrid and Kenyon Bowles!

10/18 – SUNRISE MOUNTAIN – HOME – LOSS

The freshman football hosted Sunrise Mountain on Wednesday. Brody Bobzien made two deep throws to Caleb Warner for touchdowns and Brandon Woodland is still golden with the points after touchdown adding two more points to our final score. Next week the Demons face the Cactus for their last game of the season. Let’s here it for Freshman football.
